In college I had to take a class in song leading. One of the tests for the class was to lead singing in chapel. In order to pass I had to lead at least one song in each of the three major beat patterns: 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8.
The day that I was assigned to lead, the chapel speaker for the day was . . . wait for it . . . Rich Mullins. So I did my thing, led the songs, waved my arms.
Rich was introduced, stood up, looked out at the student body, looked down at me, looked at the student body again and then, referencing my worship leading said, somewhat dryly, "I have no idea what that was all about.
