Burying a Friend Today

I'm preaching the funeral of an old friend today. Ray Sickmiller was an elder in my first ministry in White Pigeon, Michigan. He and his family have been great encouragers to Tracy and me over the years. After many years of living in different states, God brought us back to the same town. What a privilege and blessing it is to be able to share the promises from God's Word regarding Ray's eternity. He finished well.

God be with you today. It's hard to preach the funeral of a friend, but as you alluded to, it's a lot easier when you know that they lived a good life and are going to their reward. I always try to tell people in a eulogy: make it easy on the preacher who has to do your funeral!
